US Dubai Consulate FAQ

The US Consulate General in Dubai is located on the Corner of Al Seef Rd. and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Rd, Dubai, U.A.E.

There is limited residential parking located near the U.S. Consulate.  Please plan to arrive via public transportation (such as by taxi).  The nearest metro station is located at Burjuman (approximately a ten-minute walk from the Consulate). Please plan accordingly.

Arrive thirty (30) minutes prior to your interview appointment time. Applicants must enter via the consular gate at the front of the Consulate (the creek side).

The US Consulate has greeter staff located outside the consular gate to assist visa applicants. Applicants must join the queue outside and then follow instructions given by the greeter staff.

Applicants must present a copy of their appointment letter.

To enter the US Consulate, applicants must go through screening similar to security screening done at an airport. The Consulate does not provide lockers or storage bins for personal items, however security will hold mobile phones at the consular gate. Please note that laptops or any large electronic device cannot be held at the gate and applicants arriving with these will be forced to re-book their appointment.  Any person refusing to comply with all security screening procedures will be denied entry to the Consulate.

Please note that photography is prohibited and not allowed outside or inside the US Consulate. Strict security measures are in place to prevent these activities.

You are not allowed to enter the US Consulate with any of the following items: phones, electronics, food, liquids, weapons, sharp objects, luggage, bags, or purses.  Only application-related papers carried by hand will be permitted.  Other items may be prohibited at the discretion of security staff.  There is no facility at the U.S. Consulate to store personal items.

Bring the following items to your visa interview: 

(1) Application Form DS-160 confirmation page 

(2) UAE Emirates ID 

(3) Valid passport and previous passport(s), if the UAE Residency Visa is placed in the old passport.

(4) Color photo less than six months old, 5 X 5 cm, against a white background 

(5) Visa fee payment receipt 

(6) Applicants may bring additional supporting documents that they feel help to demonstrate their ties to a residence overseas.  These documents may or may not be reviewed by the consular officer at the time of the visa interview.

 

Applicants may request to bring a family member/ assistant with them inside the Consulate if they are elderly or disabled and require assistance. Please note that this will be at the discretion of the US Consulate staff.

The US Consulate does not provide wheelchairs. 

If you have a medical or other condition requiring use of a wheelchair, please bring this with you and alert the greeter staff to your situation when you arrive.

Only visa applicants, who have valid appointments, and the parents of minor applicants, will be permitted to enter the Consulate. Drivers, friends, and other relatives will not be permitted to enter.  Attorneys are not permitted to accompany their clients into the Consulate.

Much of the waiting area is outside; dress appropriately.
